EEG and HRV data issues
The accuracy of Pylot’s cognitive performance metrics relies on getting good-quality data from the HRV and EEG sensors. A few poor samples will have minimal impact, and these are easily handled by the apps that filter this data. However, problems arise when there is consistently poor-quality data. This is generally the result of:
- Excessive movement
- A poorly fitted band
- Hair between the sensors and your skin
Fixing Data Issues
The most common fixes for data issue warnings are:
- Tighten the band so it is firmly comfortable
- Ensure the sensors are all in contact with your skin, and no hair is in between the sensors and your forehead
- Avoid excessive movement. Lots of walking, jumping, etc may result in the sensors sliding over the skin and not getting good data
- Position the sensors so the HRV sensor is in the centre of the forehead and the single EEG sensor is on the left.
